Building's And Their Uses:
The Town Hall is the only building in your city that can?t completely demolish. As the level of the Town Hall gets higher it allows several things- you can upgrade your cottages to higher levels, you can hold one valley for each level of the town hall, and as the level gets higher your city looks bigger and cooler on the map- level 1, 2 and 3 town halls have the little tiny city. Level 4, 5 and 6 have the slightly larger one with a little wall, and level 7, 8 and 9 have the short castle. Level 10 has the big tall castle.
Walls are a very important building because they affect city battles in a large way- you can build wall defenses in them and the higher the level of the walls, the more troops an enemy has to send to defeat your city and lower the loyalty with an attack (this is if you have no troops or wall defenses left from their other attacks). Walls, at the same levels as the town hall, get bigger and cooler looking as the levels get higher (but they don?t affect the way you?re city looks on the map. Level ten walls with level one Town Hall will still look like a tiny little city).
Barracks are one of the most important buildings in the game- you build troops in them. Typically you want 13-20 of these in a city.
Cottages provide population- you want 4-7 of these in a city.
Stable is required to research Horseback Riding, and can be demolished when the technology reached level 10.
Warehouse is required to build walls and research metal casting and can be demolished when the technology reaches level 10.
Forge is required to research iron casting and can be demolished when the technology reaches level 10.
Inn is required to recruit heroes, Feasting Hall is required to keep them. Each level of the feasting hall allows another hero.
Academy is required to use and build technologies- NEVER demolish this building.
Rally Spot is required to send troops out- each level allows one more attack or reinforce out at a time and adds 10k to the max amount of troops able to be sent out. Also has medic camp, where you can heal the wounded soldiers from your battles.
Embassy if required to join Alliances. Each level allows 100k troops to be reinforced in your city, and as host, each level allows ten more members to join your alliance.
Beacon Tower alerts you to incoming attacks. The higher the level, the more detailed information you get about the attack.
Relief station speeds up troop movement between your own cities and your reinforcements or transports to an ally's city.

Beginner Protection:
Beginner Protection is the first seven days of you being on the game- unless you upgrade your Town Hall past level 5. Usually you do not want to end beginner protection earlier than it ends itself, especially if you don?t spend any money on advancing faster. However, the goal nowadays is to start farming level five NPCs (Non-Player Characters, the cities on the map with Black Flags, or Barbarian Cities) with ballistae for no loss as soon as possible (I?ll go more into detail about how this is done later). Long story short, use beginner protection to your advantage, and make sure that you are ready when you end it, or when it ends after 7 days.
Quickly Colonize 400 City's:
Seems like an overwhelming pain, but the achievment buff reward of 10% increased item drop rate is more than worth the effort and can/should be done in the early stages of the game. With an organized system, it's really not so bad.
Here is what I suggest:
1. Search around your cities within a 100 mile radius or so, looking for any player cities with 2k or less prestige that are NOT in beginner status and that aren't already colonized. 99.9% of the time these are abandoned accounts. If you have the time, try to find at least 50 or so.
2. On a sheet of paper, write down the coordinates of each one you find, declaring war whenever possible (it has a 5 minute cooldown). To make things simple, you should mark a W next to each city you declare war on.
3. Set up 1 or more of your cities to have a feasting hall full of junk heroes, except maybe your mayor. The more heroes the better. The reason you want junk heroes is because you don't want to risk any loyalty drop/capture of your good heroes in cases of failed attacks.
4. After you have entered war status with each city, send a junk hero with 1 scout to colonize. (mark an A or something next to each city you attack to keep track) Most of the time, your colonize report will be successful with no defending troops found. The ones that fail, you should either scratch off your list or create a separate list as they can still be farmed with a small troop of warriors or archers etc. Though depending on how far away it is, it might not be worth the march time required.
5. As soon as you succesfully colonize each city, immediately recall your troops to ensure they do not successfully suppress the city. If they do, you will have to wait 8 hours suppression time, plus 24 hours colony abandon time before you can hit them again. Otherwise, you can hit them every 8 hours as soon as suppression period ends.
With proper timing, you could attack each colony 5 times during the 48 hour war period. With a list of say 50 colonies, that is 250 colonies in only 2 days. That alone is enough to get you the 8% increase item drop buff.
Keep in mind, after each server reset a few of the cities on your list may get deleted, just search for more if your list gets too short. Don't be discouraged if you don't see the number on your achievement list increase right away, it only seems to update for me when I reset evony.
After you have gone through your list, the job only gets easier. Assuming you are still in war status, set up your attack for the first city on your list, and simply change the coordinates on the attack screen for the rest of the heroes in that city as you go down the list. Once you have confirmed which cities have "no defending troops" you can go ahead and send your good heroes too if they aren't busy.
